John is the president of the Oregon Business Council (OBC), a nonpartisan organization of senior business leaders committed to strengthening Oregon's economy.

John is one of Oregon's most respected voices on economic policy, bringing more than three decades of rigorous analysis and civic leadership to the challenges facing our state and region. Before leading OBC, he spent more than 25 years at ECOnorthwest, the Portland-based economic consulting firm — work that spanned education, housing, public finance, and workforce policy across the Pacific Northwest.

Earlier in his career, John served as a welfare analyst at the Congressional Budget Office and as a Peace Corps volunteer.
