Melanie Billings-Yun

Dr. Melanie Billings-Yun is an internationally respected negotiation expert, consultant, and educator with a Ph.D. from Harvard University and has also studied at the London School of Economics and Portland State University. Over her career, she has taught negotiation, international business, and strategic management at institutions including Portland State University, Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and Georgetown University. As the founder and senior partner of Global Resolutions, she has provided negotiation guidance to businesses, governments, and nonprofit organizations across Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East. Her her book Beyond Dealmaking: Five Steps to Negotiating Profitable Relationships, introduces her method for creating sustainable, mutually beneficial outcomes in complex negotiations.

In addition to her academic and professional achievements, Dr. Billings-Yun has played an active role in civic engagement and community leadership. She served as the co-chair of the Portland Charter Review Commission—an initiative that reflected her deep commitment to democratic process and thoughtful public policy. Her work bridging cultural differences and fostering collaborative dialogue has earned recognition, including the Simon Benson Alumni Achievement Award. Beyond her professional pursuits, she contributes her expertise to local organizations and serves on boards such as the Oregon Zoo Foundation and the League of Women Voters.
